The Devon Aire Matrix is a very safe helmet having been tested and designed for deflection. Riders generally do not fall upside-down but rather at an angle. The Matrix has patented technology to deflect this exact type of impact, from an angle. It passes all the tests of falling upside-down as all other helmets are tested, but in addition it tests a real world type of fall and has been shown to REDUCE and DEFLECT impact sideways as well as from the top.
What about it? Cons” Remember saturday night live when mom was a kid. Coneheads were something pretty funny. Well, for snowboarders, who need sideways deflection, Conehead was not a marketing problem. Forget about it. Try it. It is light weight, may need a bit of extra padding for pin heads like myself. But the large dial-to-fit pad snugs right up to your cerebellum, the delicate part of your brain responsible for vision and balance. It has vents to open and close on the top for more or less air circulation. Give me more air and more protection. I like this helmet! And…. my hit-air equestrian safety vest, which keeps me cool in these hot summer months!
